Looking for a fun day out with your dog? No matter if you’d prefer to head to a lake or the mountains, stay close to town or on a road trip, we’ve got plenty of ways for you to spend the day out with your furry best mate.

Grab breakfast at the Flywheel Bar & Cafe where you can grab an outdoor seat and enjoy breakfast to kick start your day.  If you have a sweet tooth, decide which homemade slice, cake or muffin to take with you.

Following breakfast, venture to Beaufort Lake which offers the perfect opportunity for a picturesque walk.  There is a leisurely 3km or 1km walking/running track around the lake with fitness equipment dotted along the way. Join countless locals running, strolling and cycling the track year-round. As you stroll the banks of the lake, you will find the Koori Art Trail with 12 art installations strategically placed around the lake.

Café Fifty6 has your lunch sorted.  It’s super dog friendly and has asian-influenced specials. The delicious fare and hit of espresso will be exactly what you need to hit the mark for afternoon walks.

Afternoon walkies are sorted at Mount Cole State Forest. Mount Cole is located 25 kilometres from the township of Beaufort and marks the gateway to the Grampians. You have a variety of short and long walking tracks to choose from, each taking you through  cool fern gullies and alpine plateaus with lots of opportunities to take in views.

If you’re not quite ready for the car ride home, a stop at Mrs Bakers Still House is in order. Trundle up a hidden valley and discover an award winning micro-distillery, making craft gins and liqueurs from locally farm grown fresh botanicals. Resident dog, Tuesday, will greet you when you arrive with a tail wag that becomes a full body wiggle.
