Visit the Beaufort Historic Society to find out about the history of Beaufort and surrounding region.
You can find the Beaufort Historic Society housed in the heritage Court House located in Livingstone Street (next to Beaufort Police Station).

Stepping into the building evokes thoughts of the many souls that have passed through the building.

The Historical Society has extensive paper records but minimal artefacts because of lack of appropriate display capabilities.

Research queries and building visits are welcomed but preferably with notice as the Society is run by volunteers and at times not at full capacity. For family history, it is best to call ahead of time to allow the volunteers to find the appropriate information pertaining to your enquiries. Research fees apply – minimum $20.00.
