There are no bad days here in the Pyrenees.  Days full of spectacular scenery offering all kinds of adventures- there are many paths to walk on in the Pyrenees but when the weather is inclimate, there are plenty of great spots indoors where you can still enjoy the scenery.

Bigibila Winery

The panoramic views from Bigibila Cellar Door provide some of the best scenery in the Pyrenees.  The veranda of this relaxed cellar door is a dream location to snap a selfie with a gorgeous backdrop of sloping vines and mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. Thankfully the cellar door design has strategically placed windows and glassed doors which means on in climate days you won’t miss out on the views.  You can perch yourself up at the bar or find a cosy table by the fire where you can sip on Bigibila classics. Order one of the delicious cheese and charcuterie grazing platters and settle in for the afternoon.

To help you get that perfect brag worthy photo, Bigibila Winery have installed a #bigibilawines frame overlooking the vines.

Dalwhinnie Winery

The floor-to-ceiling windows that run the length of the Dalwhinnie cellar door make it feel as if you’re drinking in the middle of their vineyards. A textbook architectural case for bringing the “outside in” .

You’ll get a good look at the terraced vineyards as you drive up the hill to this boutique cellar door, but the best place to take in the incredible views is from the timber table located by the heater at cellar door. It’s a serene and scenic spot to enjoy a wine-tasting of the boutique wines made from 40-year-old vines.

Wayward Winery

Just 30 minutes out of Ballarat, Wayward Winery  offers the perfect, unique and exclusive restaurant to enjoy beautiful dining with family and friends 😄.

The renovated chaff mill/stables which were built approximately 100yrs ago bestows the most sensational atmosphere for enjoying a delicious meal or glass of wine or two.

Scenery from the restaurant is just as delicious as the food. Overlooking Vineyards and farming pastures that are dotted with windfarm towers, the contrast in scenery is breathtakingly beautiful.

Forest Gate Estate

Nothing beats sampling a few wines before relaxing with your chosen glass, and maybe a few nibbles, as you take in the scenery of Forest Gate Estate.  Located on the outskirts of the township of Avoca, the cellar door space was created with a rustic-chic yet modern feel with spectacular vineyard views. Wines are best explored through a wine tasting or you can bring your own picnic lunch and settle in with your favourite glass of Estate wine.

Taltarni

No Pyrenees trip is complete without a stop at Taltarni Vineyard.

Friendly Cellar Door Manager, Lilly, invites visitors to enjoy wine tastings, platters and humble garden views from their cellar door. Taltarni is known for their rich and full-bodied and sparkling varieties. White wine lovers can indulge in the still or sparkling varieties (there are quite a few to try!). A selection of tastings are available in the cellar door, which is a large, modern space. My favourite part is how the tasting room overlooks the winery and barrel hall so you can watch the action as you taste.

DogRock Winery

If the apocalypse happens I’m heading directly to the self-sufficient biodynamic farm that is Dogrock Winery cellar door in Crowlands. Recessed into the hillside in a cavernous manner, the winery has natural insulation, keeping cool throughout summer and stable in winter. This winery building, from its vantage point of 345m above sea level, overlooks Mount Langhi Ghiran and Mount Cole with sensational panoramic views of the vineyards below.

This harmonious environment is one that has the ability to produce exceptional quality wines – naturally. Within the carefully-planned vineyards each grape variety is planted strategically – Riesling and Chardonnay are nestled behind the ridge on southern facing slopes where they are protected from the summer’s hot north winds. Red varietals – Shiraz, Grenache and Tempranillo – are planted on the north facing slopes to maximise sunlight exposure.

Owners Andrea and Allen are ready to welcome you and show you through their premium range of wines. Call ahead to arrange a tasting experience in the cellar door and try the signature Degraves Road wines.

Dogrock Winery also recently installed an electric vehicle charging station for its patrons so electric cars can charge up while they are having a tasting at cellar door.
