Spring is in the air! It is time to unplug from our devices and unwind in the glorious great outdoors. With the arrival of some beautiful warm weather, the Pyrenees is buzzing with new life. Buds are bursting in the vineyards, colourful gardens are blooming and we get to witness the arrival of many baby animals from Joey’s to lambs right here in our backyard! The Pyrenees has it all.  At just over two hours easy drive from Melbourne and just over an hour from Ballarat and Bendigo, the Pyrenees offers superb wineries, stunning scenery, inspired walking tracks, picnic areas, camping grounds, delicious food and so much more.

Hop on your bike and cycle through quaint villages and along quiet country roads, taking in stunning landscapes and plenty of wildlife and farm animals along the way. Shop for local produce or stop for a picnic in picturesque surrounds. Treat yourself to a cheeky wine at one of the many cellar doors. Dine alfresco style and pair a crisp white with seasonal dishes at a winery as the vines burst back to life.

Ready to call it a night? Slip into a glamping tent for a sweet nights rest or make yourself at home in cosy lodgings on a working farm. Nothing screams country escape like waking to the sing-song of birds and the scent of native forests and freshly cut grass.

The best ways to experience some of the most beautiful spots in the Pyrenees is to rent out a private self-contained cottage and watch the sun climb mountains at dawn and descend into valleys at dusk.  Or maybe you prefer to immerse yourself in nature by camping in picturesque uncrowded locations under the starry night sky. Pyrenees State Forest have some lovely peaceful campgrounds where you can enjoy the longer days exploring the network of walking trails and then spending the night toasting marshmallows around the campfire while marvelling at the brilliant blanket of stars above.
