Mount Mitchell is a stunning historic homestead located within the world-renowned Pyrenees wine region of Victoria. The property Mount Mitchell established in 1838 captures early Victorian rural history. It’s beautiful gardens and significant homestead and outbuildings, provide many magnificent settings for exclusive events, such as weddings, corporate functions and product launches. Accommodation is also available for guests to immerse themselves in the Australian farm experience.

Here in Victoria there is a long tradition of members of the public visiting private gardens that have been opened on specific days and times of the year to best showcase their botanical and horticultural features.

Mount Mitchell has over 10 acres of manicured gardens comprising formal rose gardens, impressive working kitchen gardens, parkland and an extensive orchard featuring a range of fruit trees.

There is also an exceptional range of trees of interest. Avenues of elms line both the entrance to the homestead along the driveway and various fence lines around property. Poplars, plane trees and cypress, hawthorn and viburnum hedges structure the garden into green rooms.

Expansive lawns, winding paths, arched hedgerows and parterre gardens create much interest and you can spend hours taking all of it in.

A beautifully positioned lake offers a splendid vista to the west with the Pyrenees Mountains rising majestically in the background.
