Elmhurst

Elmhurst was first settled in 1840 and is located midway between Avoca and Ararat along the Pyrenees Highway. Elmhurst provides access to Mount Cole State Forest and Ben Nevis Lookout which offers incredible views over the surrounding peaks, bushland and fields. You can travel right up to the Ben Nevis summit via a gravel road, but the more adventurous prefer to park at Chinamans Campground and take the Scenic Borella Walk, known as a birdwatcher’s delight, which takes you on a steep 5km hike to the Ben Nevis.

While in Emlhurst, drop into Mrs Bakers Distillery to try their variety of craft gins and liqueurs or settle in for the afternoon with one of their grazing platters.
