There is nothing more exhilarating than seeing Autumn transform the landscapes of our vineyards to shades of yellow, orange and reds. We have plenty of reasons for you to visit the Pyrenees in Autumn and to get your fill of nature and the outdoors. A walking adventure to remember
With breathtaking scenery across diverse terrains, the breathtaking walks in Mount Cole and Mount Buangor continues to challenge and fascinate visitors year-round. With a number of walking trails to conquer, this adventure can be completed over numerous days or visits and paves the way for multiple trips to the Pyrenees region.
Totaling 23km in distance, the Beeripmo Walking Track makes its way through both the Mount Cole State Forest and Mount Buangor State Park. Starting at Ferntree Visitor Area, the Beeripmo Walk represents a challenge for the more experienced bush walker with a rewarding two day walk winding through cool fern gullies and tall forests, taking in views across the surrounding hills of both the Mount Cole State Forest and Buangor State Park. The walk provides a unique overnight walking experience between the Mount Cole State Forest and Mount Buangor Park with camping available at the Beeripmo Camping Ground which is reserved specifically for Beeripmo walkers only.
Exemplifying the beauty and brilliance of the Mount Buangor State Park, Ferntree Falls Nature Walk is an excellent opportunity to experience the beauty of the Pyrenees. This easy 1km walk is great for families and has an enchanted rainforest vibe about it. Cascade Falls is a short 5 minute walk from the Waterfalls Nature Walk and offers visitors the chance to relax and enjoy the flowing water as it rushes across a large granite rock face.
With unbeatable views on offer, The Borella Walk in Mount Cole represents one of the region’s most captivating views. Starting at Chinamans Campground, take the 5km hike up hill where you will find Ben Nevis Summit taking in extensive views of Mt Langi Ghiran and the Grampians
Secluded camping locations
Autumn is a wonderful time of year to go camping to enjoy the last of the longer days before winter hits. Now is the perfect time to book a quick little getaway to enjoy the warmer day (and starry nights) with some snuggly sleeping under canvas. Bring your own tent or caravan and set up camp in picturesque uncrowded locations.
Who doesn’t love being in nature? Our outdoors are so beautiful. Escape the crowds by picking a secluded chilled at campsite within Mount Cole, Mount Buangor or Pyrenees State Forest that have basic campsites with non flush toilets, wood fired BBQs and get your dose of nature. If you prefer a few more amenities, Avoca and Beaufort have Caravan Parks located by water so be sure to pack the fishing rods!
A Region of Exceptional Taste
Celebrating both excellence in flavour as well as the Pyrenees vibrant and enchanting landscape, the Pyrenees Wineries continue to delight visitors during Autumn.
Consisting of 25 cellar doors and an impressive variety of award-winning wines, Autumn is the perfect time of year to rally friends together for a day of drinking and dining. From boutique wineries with outdoor dining and cosy cafes housed in historic buildings, it is easy to eat and drink your way around the region! Many cellar doors are accompanied by decks and terraces overlooking vineyards so close that you feel like you are dining amid vines covered in Autumn colours.
We are so pleased to see our events coming back. Experience the Country Races at Avoca on March 20th 2021 and gear up for a big day at the Country Races! It’s been 15 months since we were last able to welcome you trackside for the 2019 Avoca Cup and after the whirlwind that was 2020, we are pleased to announce that the Avoca Autumn Race meeting will be welcoming back members, sponsors, owners and the general public in March. The event will be capped at 1000 persons and limited ticketing will be available, so make sure you secure your spot and book early.
The Pyrenees Unearthed Festival is back in 2021! Held on the Avoca River Flat, the festival is a celebration of great Western Victorian wine, delicious food and live music. On Saturday 17th April, Pyrenees Unearthed will showcase the best of the award-winning wines that the Pyrenees region has to offer and is a fun filled day for all. Groups, couples, singles and families are invited to come along and enjoy an afternoon of fabulous local produce, live music and wines by the glass. The Pyrenees has a growing reputation as one of the great regions for Cabernet Sauvignon in the world, and you will have the chance to taste and purchase your favourites.
